    ASPE in OKC

Last week, the boys were in OKC to attend the American Society of Plumbing Engineer’s or ASPE Convention. We visited industry friends, walked the trade show floor, which was pretty impressive, I might add, and shot a whole bunch of video and gathered future content. Stay tuned for that. In the meantime, we caught up with ASPE Society president, Bryan Hutton, who talked a little about the show and his tenure as society president.

Also, Eric unboxes the Grundfos ALPHA 26-99 F (flanged, for HVAC systems): a medium-duty circulator built for large radiant systems, big residential and light commercial work, and heating or cooling zones — roughly 20 GPM and 15–20 ft of head. Two screws and it pops off to reveal Bluetooth/Wi-Fi connectivity and the Grundfos GO app: deeper configuration, real-time feedback, and commissioning + operating reports you can’t get from the buttons on the front. Four control modes on board — constant curve, constant pressure, proportional pressure speeds, plus external control built in.

The ALPHA head swaps straight onto the cheaper UPSe 26-99. Pull the UPS head, slap the ALPHA head on, and you’ve temporarily turned it into a connected pump for troubleshooting — makes a strong case for keeping one on the service van as a diagnostics tool.
